Day 1. Bogota: The Best of Colombia trip starts in Bogota. A transfer picks you up at the airport and takes you to the hotel located in the old town near restaurants and bars.
Day 2. Bogota: Explore the city, you can join the Bike and Graffiti Tour. Go to the Botero Museum, the Gold museum and try the local dishes.
Day 3. Villa de Leyva: Private transportation to the beautiful colonial town of Villa de Leyva. (3 hour ride)
Day 4. Villa de Leyva: This day you can go on a 4×4 WD ride or by horse to explore the surroundings which are full of museums, natural lakes, waterfalls and cool places like the mud house!
Day 5. Villa de Leyva: An other day to enjoy and explore more of the town.
Day 6. Salento: Back to Bogota’s airport to take a flight to Armenia where a private transfer waits for you and takes you to Salento.
Day 7. Salento: Early start to do the hike to see the beautiful Cocora valley where there are the tallest palm trees in the world! You will be back in Salento at lunch time.
Day 8. Salento: This day can be spent doing the coffee tour on a horse!
Day 9. Medellin: Your private transfer takes you to Armenia’s airport to catch the flight to Medellin. At arrival you can check the neighbourhood full of restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
Day 10. Medellin: This day can be spent doing a city tour and visit the best places of Medellin.
Day 11. Medellin: Today you can do the Guatape tour. A private transportation picks you up at the hotel and takes you to this colourful town. On the way there you will stop at the Peñon stone where after 720 steps you arrive to the view point of the handmade dam.
Day 12. Santa Marta: A private transfer picks you up at the hotel and takes you to the airport to catch a flight to Santa Marta. On arrival a transfer will be waiting for you. After check in you can check out the city and prepare for the trek.
Day 13. Lost City Trek: This adventure of The Best of Colombia starts around 9am where you will get picked up at the hotel, a 4 WD car will take you on a 2 1⁄2 drive to El Mamey, the place where you will have lunch and then begin the search for the sacred place of the Tayronas (antique Lost City residents) in a walk of 3 1⁄2 hours. At the end of the afternoon you will arrive at the first camp, and in its surroundings you will find rivers, natural pools and waterfalls to have a relaxing moment, then you have dinner and spend the night in hammocks or beds if available!
Day 14. Lost City Trek: The day begins with an early breakfast, then starts the walk by the Riverside where you will find plenty of houses which make part of a Kogui indigenous village called Mutanshi. The trek during the day will take about 7 hours going through the jungle of Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta and enjoying the biodiversity to finally reach the third camp (equipped with hammocks, beds and tents) there you will have a delicious dinner and rest after an adventurous day.
Day 15. Lost City Trek: Early in the morning after breakfast you will start climbing up 1.200 steps to the main destination, a trail constructed by Tayrona people to reach the beautiful Lost City. Once you get there the guide will show you everything related to this magical place full of relics and ancestral stories, you will spend the morning enjoying the landscapes and having enough time to rest and take pictures, finally you will have lunch at the third camp and then go back to camp 2 to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 16. Santa Marta: The last day of this adventure begins with the breakfast at the camp to then continue the way back to the point where it all started, during the walk you will find rivers and waterfalls to have refreshing breaks. Finally you will reach El Mamey, a place where you will have lunch and the 4WD car will pick you up to go back to Santa Marta arriving around 5:00 p.m. completely delighted of a lifetime experience in the magic Sierra Nevada.
Day 17. Cartagena: After a resting night you will be picked up at the hotel, a 4 hour ride will leave you in the most charming city of this country, Cartagena. On arrival you can join the city tour and learn all the amazing treasures, wars and pirate stories.
Day 18. Island: An hour boat trip will take you to one of the Rosario Islands to spend a couple of nights relaxing and swimming in the Caribbean.
Day 19. Island: Swim, snorkel, dive and relax!
Day 20. Cartagena: In the afternoon you will get back in Cartagena, just in time to have a drink while watching the sunset. A perfect spot to end The Best of Colombia Tailor Made trip!
